hoozah!

dear beloved reader,

a confessional.  a few days ago, when i told you the pig stork dropped off ten new piglets—well—i lied.  we actually got eleven.  as we were unloading them from the pig crate:

one of them ran away.  we were passing the piglets—by the hind legs, from the crate, off the truck, and into the paddock—when all of a sudden, in a baby pink flash, piglet number eleven roundhouse kicked sous chef francois to his back, triple lindied over the tailgate of our truck, and dashed off into the enchanted woods that lay just beyond pork chop hill.

throughout the day i returned to look for him, as did others.  day one.  day two.  still no sign.  day three!  believe me, i wanted to tell you, but no matter how many times i tried, i couldn’t quite figure out how to tell you without somehow ending with “adorable pink flesh ball” and “voracious coyote” in the same sentence.  i mean.  they’re just so cute, and to picture him all scared and defenseless, pit-putting around the woods—or worse, the road—see, this is why i didn’t want to say anything.

but wait!  fear not, good reader, for it’s all behind us now.  the prodigal pig hath returned!  today, after not one sign for days, a battle weary, mud covered, hungry, confused little pudgeball scampered through the electric fence and straight into general population.

we threw some food out, gathered a crowd, waited for the right moment, and struck.  proud to say that on my first and only true approach i two handed his little belly, timing his surprisingly quick sprint perfectly, and safely placed him into the piglet’s paddock.

i present to you:  number eleven.

and the oscar for best supporting actor goes to:  lil’ mr black nose, with his sitting on the lip of the food trough while eating routine.  classic.
